Despite a freak snowstorm two days ago, we went out trick-or-treating today! Actually, the whole town is out of power, and the mayor banned trick-or-treating in town, because of down power lines and falling trees/branches. However, here on campus we're on generator power, the power lines are all underground, and most of the trees and precarious branches have already been cleared by our industrious and dedicated maintenance staff, so we're enjoying our own private Halloween celebrations (just don't tell the authorities!)

This is when she figured out that what she was getting at the doors was actually edible, and totally delicious. We had a hard time getting her to focus on the walking door-to-door part after this. All she wanted to do was open and eat the candy.
Candy meltdown is beginning to set in. Joe was giving her one M&M at a time to try and keep her from eating too much candy (after all, we went out before dinner, to avoid the cold), but she kept pointing at the bag and demanding "I HOLD IT!" This picture includes all of Vera's cohort here on campus; they range in age from 18 months to 4 years. It's a great crowd!
