OK, so I have a client who is a teacher, and she told me this one today. She got her roster for her new class for this fall, and she was looking it over. For one little girl, under the column for first name was written simply "L-A". Thinking this was a typo, the teacher went to the administrators and asked what the deal was.
"Nope, that's her name," they say.
" L-A ? That's her name? How do you pronounce it?" she asks.
...
...
"L'dasha"
NO, they were not kidding. You PRONOUNCE the dash.
*sigh*

that's hilarious. my friend whitney told me that her mom knew someone who named their daughter meconium (yep, baby's first poop) because she thought that it was such a beautiful sounding word. seriously. and didn't david arquette name his kid pilot inspektor or something?
that is the coolest name I have ever heard of, I think you guys really should consider putting some puncuation into your little lady's name, how bout j'ka (japostrophyka), how beautiful!
